Guest pet1963 Posted February 7, 2004 Report Posted February 7, 2004 Having got a VW mechanic to take a look at the engine today he has found that two HT leads were not connected properly and a breather pipe was blocked.Connected HT leads properly and fitted new breather pipe and hay presto!! the engine runs a lot better!! Not finished yet, going to replace all leads and plugs and then see. Regards Peter Quote
Guest nimrod Posted February 7, 2004 Report Posted February 7, 2004 I take it this is the same engine that a Ford garage said was beyond repair?you say it runs better? but what does it sound like now and drive like? Quote
seatkid Posted February 7, 2004 Report Posted February 7, 2004 Not bad for a 3 cylinder engine!! <_< Well it only goes to reinforce that 80% of running problems on petrol engines are down to simple electrical ignition faults. I trust you will report the ford dealer who wrote your engine off to Fords customer service (do it in writing) - the more people who complain about the scandalous service quality at a dealer, the sooner something might be done about it. I wonder how many other car owners have been taken in by this dealer? Quote
Guest pet1963 Posted February 7, 2004 Report Posted February 7, 2004 To All Yes this is the engine that was unrepairable!!!!!!!!! Total cost so far Ford dealer Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted February 9, 2004 Report Posted February 9, 2004 ...platinum plated plugs perhaps? Quote
